Steve Doll

President

Steve stepped into the role of Event Coordinator after his late wife, Felicia, ended her battle with Mesenchymal Chrondrosarcoma in 2019. Felicia was the Founder of STL Cure Sarcoma. Steve has continued to lead us and honor Felicia's memory by carrying on her legacy through making this event a success year after year.

Rhonda Kathalynas

Vice President

I am proud to have been on this committee from its inception. My daughter, Felicia Doll, was the event coordinator and founder of the event. I worked with Felicia and other committee members to get this event up and running as she went through her treatments. My current duty is to assist Steve Doll, the event coordinator. I also manage the creation and distribution of the race t-shirts. In addition, I recruit the volunteers who are vital to keeping the event going as well as other duties that come my way. I love working on this event and keeping my daughter’s dream alive.

Secretary/Media Manager

In 2010, my late husband was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma. His cancer was linked to Burn Pit Exposure from his service in Iraq. He ended his battle in 2012. The next year, I went to visit Dr. Van Tine and was "volun-told" that I would be on the committee to get this race started. This race gave me a purpose after the loss of Nathan. It has been an honor to serve on the committee and to watch the race grow and change over time. Sarcoma has struck my family again, with an Aunt that was recently diagnosed, and it just reinvigorates my fight against this terrible disease.

Launa Sellers

Treasurer

I was diagnosed in 2010 with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in my femur. After a year of several different chemotherapy treatments, they performed a Vaness Rotation Plasty in Dec 2010. In 2012, Osteosarcoma resurfaced in both lungs, which was treated with lung wedge resections.

I was put on a trial study that worked and I have been a Survivor since.

Rich Kurowski

Committee Member/Accountant

My wife, Marsha, was diagnosed with angiosarcoma in 2022. She was successfully treated then by Dr. Van Tine and continues under his care. We are fortunate here in St. Louis to have Dr. Van Tine and his team at Siteman Cancer Center. We want to support him and the fantastic work he is doing by contributing to the continued success of this event. I will use my financial and technical background to help with the financial, administrative and reporting work involved with the race.

In Loving Memory

"Organizing the STL Cure Sarcoma 6k Walk/Run has been a blessing in my life. It's a coping mechanism for me. It's a way to turn the worst thing that has ever happened to me and many others into some good. We have a goal to raise research funds until the disease is eradicated and provide a support system for everyone who is affected by sarcoma." - Felicia Doll, Founder

Our Vision

STL Cure Sarcoma imagines a future where sarcoma is no longer a devastating diagnosis. Our commitment lies in advancing research, raising awareness, and creating a supportive community for patients, survivors, and their families. We honor the memory of those brave warriors who have ended their battle with this terrible disease and extend our unwavering support to their loved ones. Through tireless advocacy and innovative approaches, we aim to ensure that every individual affected by sarcoma can face the future with hope and resilience.
